Leah Matzat

I spent a decade leading Invitae's, and now Labcorp's, clinical genetic testing laboratory R&D. I launched several market leading clinical genetic tests in hereditary oncology, rare disease, and women's health. As a senior leader with over 15 years of experience in biotechnology and genomic diagnostics, I've built a reputation as a builder, creative problem solver, and people-oriented leader.

My contributions to product development and operational scaling helped grow genetic testing at Invitae from startup phase to a multi-million patient business. I played a key role building the most advanced clinical lab in the world. Our highly integrated lab pioneered the concept of modularized automation work cells to complete discrete sets of lab work as well as utilizing software to drive lab processes and decision making, such as fully automated specimen management, software-to-instrument communication, QC processes, and business process management. As a result, the Invitae lab has the lowest personnel to volume ratio in the industry.

A highlight of my career has been playing a key role in strategic business development and M&A activities to support expansion of Invitae's technology and testing portfolio. I also served as a technical advisor during the sale of Invitae to Labcorp for $239M in 2024.
